4th Capoeira Angola Encounter in the Philippines (Angola Que Tem Dende 2015)

ECAMAR Philippines continued its yearly tradition of "Angola Que Tem Dende", a workshop on Movements and Music of Capoeira Angola, Discussions, Rodas and more which was held last June 11-14, 2015 in Makati and Intramuros in Manila, Philippines. The event also included a screening of "Who We Really Are"(a documentary about Mestre Roxinho's Project Bantu in Australia by Paulo Alberton). There were also discussions about the historical links of Capoeira and socio-political works and the uses of Capoeira in the context of social work. It was truly a very educational and inspiring workshop that practitioners who attended can bring with them throughout their journey in exploring the vast world of Capoeira.

3rd Capoeira Angola Encounter at the National Museum of the Philippines

In May 2014, ECAMAR Philippines hosted the 3rd International Capoeira Angola Encounter called Angola Que Tem Dende 2014.  As part of the celebration for the National Heritage Month, Days 2 to 4 of the workshop were held at the National Museum of the Philippines. The event was full of activities including Capoeira Angola workshop on movements and music, discussions about the cultural significance of Capoeira and how practitioners from outside of Brazil can use it, Afoxe and Samba classes, Rodas and Parade in Luneta Park and many more. Practitioners from the Philippines and all over Asia were present which include members of ECAMAR Philippines, EBC Philippines, Kalye Capoeira Philippines, Capoeira Angola Bangkok and Tribo da Lua Japan. The event was officiated by Mestre Roxinho(ECAMAR) and Contra Mestre Mandela(Tribo da Lua). This was truly one of the finer moments for Capoeira Angola in Southeast Asia!
